One day, Deandre Robinson (Dre)—the founder of GOOD HAIR—was cutting two brothers' hair. Each boy had different hair textures. One brother had loose curls and the other had tight curls, also know as course hair. During this encounter, the mother gave an elaborate fancy haircut description for the son with loose curls. Yet, for the son with course hair, the mother said, “cut his hair low and even because he has BAD HAIR.” 

The statement BAD HAIR is a common phase used, but Dre realized by the look on the kid’s face that this was something that he was going to believe for the rest of his life. Because, of the mother's words, the child will believe that there is always something bad about him. There was nothing wrong with the boy's hair. There was just a lack of hair education and self-love. This experience is the reason behind the GOOD HAIR name.
